About 8:00am local time an earthquake of magnitude 6.3 occurred about 220 miles off Ushuaia in the Drake Passage. The earthquake's epicenter was located about 6 miles deep. We did not feel any affects from this.
At breakfast we sat with and chatted with Buzz Aldrin and his wife Lois.
65.04.16 S. x 64.01.56 W. The temperature is ~40 degrees F, but the 30-40 knot wind with gusts to 60 knots made it difficult to walk and unpleasant to stand around. We walked on Booth Island and saw Chinstrap and Gentoo penguins, but no Adelie penguins. We saw the remains of Port Charcot, an expedition that had camped here from 1903-1905.
After lunch we sailed thru the Lemaire Channel and north along the Danco Coast.
Buzz Aldrin gave a speech about how the USA should proceed with an effort to land people on Mars and begin to settle a colony there.
After dinner the seas became very rough and the ship rocked and rolled, as we headed for the Drake Passage.
