Some of these special search words work with different search engines and some don't. Try them with your favorite search engine.

Keyword Search Modifiers

keyword = broad match

"keyword" = match exact phrase

[keyword] = match exact term only

-keyword = don't match this term

keyword* = cover all possible extensions

~keyword = performs a 'Similar Phrase' search on that word only (for example: ~video returns film, movie, MPEG, VHS)

List Search Engines Top Web Sites

To list a search engine's top web sites, in a search engine type:

    http://

Find Web Sites Linked to your Web Site

To find web sites that are linked to your web site, in a search engine type:

    link:www.yourwebsite.com     (i.e. link:www.mystoryboard.com)

List All your Indexed Web Pages

To list all your indexed web pages, in a search engine type:

    site:www.yourwebsite.com     (i.e. site:www.mystoryboard.com)

Check Ranking of a Web Site

To check the ranking of a web page, in a search engine type:

    url:yourwebsite.com     (i.e. url:mystoryboard.com)

    domain:yourwebsite.com     (i.e. domain:mystoryboard.com) {an alternative}

    domain:yourwebsite.com originalurlpath:products     (i.e. domain:mystoryboard.com originalurlpath:products) {checks the "products" directory}

View Source of Web Page

To view the source of a web page, in a search engine type:

    view-source:www.yourwebsite.com/index.html     (i.e. view-source:www.mystoryboard.com/index.html)
